Lost Puppy - 200TL reward! On 29 November, I rescued 2 puppies that were abandoned near the Gümüşlük church after a concert. We lost them a few days ago. Of course, we've been everywhere and told every one (main restaurants, Gümüşlük Akademi, jendarmas, village vet & my vet ....). We managed to find one; it sounds as if they were playing in a neighbouring field when a group of bigger dogs started 'attacking' the male puppy (the one still missing) so a guy took him in his truck. But the puppy started messing all over in the truck so the guy left him upper Gümüşlük cemetery (on the road to Turgutreis), in the Kadikalesi area. This was on 25th December. The missing puppy is a male street dog, about 2 1/2 months old, blond with long ears, and is most probably lost around Kadiakalesi). I am offering 200TL to the person who will bring him back to us (his sister who is back is also quite depressed!). Although the Turkish Central Bank did not make a further cut in interest rates at their last meeting for 2009 on December 17th, they did indicate that the current low rates would be maintained for a “long time”. This series is looking at some of the alternative ways to generate income open to those of us here in Bodrum. As we stated in the last Bulletin, if you want to keep funds in GBP, then UK saving accounts currently offer little or no interest. Far more attractive is the UK stock market that has been recovering strongly from the recession but is this too risky for those not used to stock trading? Even taking a cautious approach, returns from stocks should at least be better than UK bank deposit interest and could be considerably better. EasyJet have now launched 2010 direct flights between Bodrum and Gatwick, Liverpool, Stansted and Bristol. There are some good bargains to be had - especially between Bodrum and either Stansted or Bristol.
