The Tenth Annual Ladies' Lunch
It’s hard to believe that this is our tenth annual Ladies’ Lunch. What started as a raid on Priscilla’s address book has developed into an annual event with more names than even her address book can hold!
If you are new to the Bodrum Peninsula and haven’t been to the lunch previously let me give you a little “lunch” history. Back in 2000 I thought that a lunch for those ladies living and working in the Bodrum area would be a great networking event and I asked Priscilla to open up her filofax; it was to be an opportunity to meet other ladies in a similar position, a chance to catch up with all those friends and acquaintances one rarely sees through the busy summer months, a possibility to find out what is going on during the winter months, a chance to dress up a little more than every day Bodrum life generally requires and above all a nice day out.
That first year we held the lunch at Sea Garden and we were pretty amazed when 66 people signed up, some of whom neither of us had ever met. It turned into an annual event, going from strength to strength and our record was 143 attendees. We’ve lunched in hotels: Sea Garden, Dedeman, Karia Princess, The Marmara, Bodrium and last year we were at the Movenpick, it’s always nice to see the local hotels from a guest point of view. We’ve only lunched in one restaurant, Café la Vela in the Bodrum Marina Yacht Club complex, but we’ve done it twice and it’s always so good that it is our chosen venue for this year.
Our mission at the Ladies’ Lunch is a simple one – every attendee should go home knowing one more person than they did previously. We all - however confident we may look – walk into the event with a few butterflies in the tummy but within minutes the warmth and generosity of the ladies is evident and newcomers will feel quite at home. It’s great to come with a group of old friends but it’s even better to go home with some new friends and a little more knowledge about how the peninsula thrives through the winter.
There is always a great mix of nationalities (I think I counted 16 last year), a huge age range and both long term and short term local residents. The Turgutreis ladies invariably win the prize for best organisation as they always arrive and depart in a fleet of dolmus, thanks to Lesley Morisetti’s management!
Tickets must be purchased in advance and we need final numbers no later than Tuesday 3rd November. Kick off is at 12.00 noon and tickets must be bought in advance. Tickets are 40YTL are available from various points around the peninsula:
