Q72: Pyramids on the Bodrum Peninsula

Q72: I have been told by a friend that there are Pyramids on the Bodrum Peninsula!! - somewhere between Ortakent and Gümüşlük - does anyone know more, or know how to get to them?

A72.1: Suggest you try THIS web page for history and THIS link below for location. -- Charly

NEW: A72.2: There are one or two natural peaks around the peninsular that are roughly pyramid shaped. I often get glimpses of them around the Turgutreis Derekoy areas. At least one of them is visible from the sea, and in an old sea chart that I have it is used as a navigation point, and marked as 'The Pyramid'. I have also seen it from the Kos ferry. I imagine that this is where the idea that there are pyramids in Bodrum came from. I hope that this is helpful. --Audrey

NEW: A72.3: The natural "hill pyramid" in Gümüşlük is one of only a few in the world. For more information see the website HERE. The pyramid can be seen on wikimapia HERE.
