Q119: Medical Inusrance for over 55s
Q119: Does anyone know of a (Turkish) medical insurance which will cover people over 55 years of age?

A119.2: If you have held a residency permit for a year or more, you may consider joining the standard Turkish Health cover scheme; the Sosyal Sigortalar Kurumu (SSK), or Universal Health Insurance (UHI). Under this, you benefit from the same cover as a Turk. For a monthly fee of around 200TL per month, you get cover for a whole family, regardless of age (children under the age of 18 are covered under a family policy), and regardless of previous health issues. Under the scheme you are entitled to (very) substantial - if not free - discounts for medical care and medicines. You also can use private hospitals.
