Q132: Passport Change after Wedding
Q132: I am getting married this year here in Bodrum. I will be taking his surname, I understand from our wedding day my name will legally be his, how do I go about changing my passport ready in time for our honeymoon up to 5 days after our wedding day? or do I need to worry about changing it?
A132.1: As far as I understand it you don't actually have to change the passport instantly; carrying the marriage book along with the passport in your maiden name should be enough. However you are advised to to check with the country she will be going to on honeymoon as some (not many) will NOT allow this. On return from the honeymoon you can either return to the UK and apply for a new passport or send the application through the Dusseldorf office for overseas applications.
