Q145: Emptying a septic tank in Turkey
Q145: We have just moved into a house in Yalıkavak which is not on a site. We have a septic tank - is there a clever way of knowing when it's full (other than the obvious!), and how do we get it emptied?
A145.1: Two years ago, you needed to go to the Yalikavak municipality office, pay a fee and few days later they would come and collect it. I think it is still same now. And yes; you have to check if it is full by yourself, as far as I know. But after some time, you will predict the average time. Some septic tanks do not have real walls, water is emitted by soil so you do not need to make it collected very often and if you plant a eucalyptus tree near the tank it will absorb the water further. --Ayca
A145.2: You should control it monthly especially in winter rain times bas can quickly fill up the beleidye will empty it for you just to to the vesne office and make payment they will empty within 2 days. --Dawn
