2011 Bodrum Car Hire Report
Last year, our car hire report looked at 33 Bodrum based car hire companies. This year, there seems to have been a boom in the number of hire companies - we collected details for a total of 64 hire companies.
As in previous years' each of the 64 companies were sent an identical anonymous email in English which was not connected with the Bodrum Bulletin.
Each company was asked to provide:
1. A basic car for a two week rental during August, with pickup and drop-off at Bodrum Airport
2. A basic car for a one month rental during November.
Each company was asked to provide the price in Turkish Lira, and to include Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), Third Party Liability protection and all taxes.
Overview:
- NINE companies' email bounced
- TWENTY TWO companies did not respond within a week
- TWENTY THREE companies responded the same day
- TEN companies the next day, or within 5 days
This left us with 33 companies to compare, as seen in the table at the bottom of this report.

- When you receive quotes, use the Price Summary Table and the main table to give you an idea of what's good value, and what isn't.
- The information provided here is informational and does not act as a recommendation for the companies involved.
- Prices quoted will not necessarily compare like-for-like cars; every hire company has different ages and types of car. You are advised to contact the company to get more information about the cars offered.
- As with any product or service, you are advised to seek independent reviews or recommendations before booking. It's especially important to ensure that the company offers the correct insurances, and is a legitimate company.
- There may be several companies which are not included in this list, if they're not there, it simply means that they don't have enough web-presence to have got caught in our extensive search for companies!
Price Summary Table:
Let's look at the summary of the prices received. As in past reports there has been a huge variance in the prices received:

Compared to 2010:
It's interesting to quickly note the prices compared to those in the 2010 report;- In our 2010 report, the average (median) price per day for the August rental was 60 TL - the same as our 2011 report
- In our 2010 report, the average (median) price per day for the November rental was 40 TL - the same as our 2011 report
So, while petrol and diesel costs may have gone up, it's good to see that higher competition has kept hire prices the same.
